The Morning Kiss

4/2002 E-mail excerpt

Abby has to give Ethan a kiss every morning when he leaves for kindergarten. Inevitably the bus pulls up and he attempts to quietly make his way out of the house when she comes flying to the front door in her nightie crying, “No Ethan, WAIT!” So he pauses, and she passionately hugs him and plants a puckered-lip kiss on his mouth. They look like a very short married couple: he dressed and on his way out the door to go to his job, she in her nightgown taking care of the children and hoping to watch her soaps, I guess. As she kisses him we can see his eyes rolling over her head but he is a very good sport. As soon as he turns around to head out the door he furiously wipes that kiss off, though.
