2013 yielded a nice crop of eggs, especially since we kept making Ukrainian eggs even after Easter was over. Abby has gotten good with the kistka - she can do designs as complicated as anything Randy or I can do. (In case you're wondering what a kistka is, or how we make these eggs,
here's the explanation.) Below are some pictures.
I'd like to note that the brown egg I did was probably laid by "Regular Legs," a hen belonging to my boss Anne (Regular Legs was formerly the coop-mate of Yellow Legs, who has since died). Anne always generously donates a carton of eggs to our endeavor, and I love the different look a brown egg gives me. Regular Legs is my all-time favorite pet name (if chickens are pets???) Except for maybe Ellen Barkin' as a dog's name, which is what we were going to name Fred if he was a girl.
